Campus De-Stress Fests Bring Fun and Relaxation to Students During Finals

What college student doesn’t want free food, video games, giveaways – and a way to decompress at finals time? That’s exactly what they got at our recent De-Stress Fest sponsored by our long-time partner College Ave Student Loans.

Gen Z students struggle with stress.

The closing weeks of Spring Term can be extremely challenging for students, especially with final exams on the horizon, graduation, and packing up to travel home or to a new city and new job. In fact, the American Psychological Association reports that members of Gen Z are the least likely to say their mental health is excellent or very good, and females are almost twice as likely as their male peers to report that their mental health is fair to poor.

College Ave Student Loans wanted to help ease their stress.

Working with our partner College Ave, students attending the recent De-Stress Fest event at The Ohio State University were treated to food and refreshments and participated in yoga and meditation sessions, visits with therapy dogs, games, crafts, and much more. Students walked away feeling refreshed and energized to finish out the semester.

“Barnes & Noble College De-Stress Fests are a really fun and unique way to help students relieve some of the stress they’re under. We know how hard it is to be a student, especially at finals time. Giving them the chance to unwind, laugh with friends, and enjoy some free food, made it all worthwhile,” said Angela Colatriano, Chief Marketing Officer at College Ave Student Loans.

Ohio State students were invited to the exclusive event, via multiple avenues (pun intended!), with College Ave Student Loans receiving prominent placement for its sponsorship. Event details were distributed through dedicated emails sent to students’ Ohio State email addresses, social media posts on the bookstore’s Facebook page, window signs, and indoor banners, collateral placed at check-out and in the cafe.

This comprehensive promotional effort worked well to inform students and at the same time created excitement and buzz about the event before it even started.

As a result of this well-attended De-Stress Fest, College Ave Student Loans boosted brand awareness and had the opportunity to educate students about their programs – all in a relaxed and fun setting.
